Abbeyfield Farm

Bargetrip.ie

Beginning in Sallins take a leisurely cruise on a restored traditional Canal Barge. The Captain will give you a unique insight into the life and history of the Grand Canal as it winds its way through the county Kildare countryside. You can choose a short one hour cruise to the Leinster Aqueduct where the canal crosses over the River Liffey, or a 2.5 hour cruise through Digby Lock where you'll experience the workings of an eighteenth century canal lock. Scheduled cruises operate from March to October and advance booking is essential.

Clonfert Pet Farm

Clonfert Pet farm is a fantastic fun filled day out for all the family at an affordable price with over 60 different types of wonderful and exotic animals to see. Facilities include  a coffee shop and restaurant, walk ways, picnic areas, outdoor playgrounds , an indoor soft play area, mini-golf , go carts, sand pits and BBQ facilities.

The Kildare Maze

Leinster’s largest hedge maze is a fabulous attraction located just in Prosperous just 10 minutes from the hotel. Focused on providing an exciting day out in the fresh air, this is a great place for families to enjoy a day out together at an affordable price. Activities include the two mazes, zip lines, playgrounds and crazy golf.

Donadea Forest Park

Donadea Forest Park is 10 minutes from the hotel and comprises of approximately 240 hectares of mixed woodland. It is part of the old Aylmer family estate. There are many historical features including the remains of the castle, walled gardens, church, tower, ice house, boat house and Lime Tree Avenue. There is also a 2.3 hectare lake with ducks and other birds and a wonderful display of water-lilies in the summer. Walled streams form part of the drainage of the park. There are many different walks through the forest, including the 5km Aylmer loop, the lake walk (wheelchair accessible) and a nature trail with stops. A small café serves light refreshments and is open year round. The park is a designated National Heritage Area.

Castletown House Estate

Located in Celbridge, Castletown House and Gardens is Ireland's largest and earliest Palladian-style estate. It was built between 1722 and 1729 for William Connolly, speaker of the Irish House of Commons and the wealthiest commoner in Ireland. Explore the beautiful 18th-century parklands, with river walks, a temple and the remains of a bathing house, feed the ducks and climb the trees. Stroll around the gardens and explore the history of the house itself—the perfect way to while away a day out in County Kildare. Check the website for details of events taking place during the year.

Lullymore Heritage Park

Lullymore Heritage & Discovery park prides itself on being one of the top family attractions in Ireland. The Parks unique rural scenic location and its state of the art play areas make for a refreshing and safe place for families to enjoy a day out together.

There’s no time limit on your stay and families can enjoy great indoor / outdoor play areas, pet farm, treasure hunts and train trips at their leisure. The Park also has 60 acres of meandering trails through peatlands, lakes and ancient woodland with lots of fascinating exhibitions to visit along the way.
There is a large cafe / shop on site and lots of picnic areas for outdoor dining and parking is free.

Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens

The Irish National Stud and Gardens is the only stud farm in Ireland open to the public and offering daily tours. Within the grounds are the world-famous Japanese Gardens, the Horse Museum, St Fiachra's Garden, a fabulous playground, four acres of woodland walks and an on-site restaurant. From horses to horticulture, the Irish National Stud offers a unique experience that can be enjoyed at your own leisure or as part of a guided tour.

Kildare Farm Foods

Kildare Farm Foods is a Third Generation Family Farm where you and your family can experience all that is great about country life. Entry to the farm is free and no booking is required. Visitors can see a wide variety of animals in a natural and relaxed setting. They are home to many friendly animals including wallabies, aara, pigs, goats, ponies, zebra, camels, ostrich, alpaca, buffalo, emu, deer & sheep and they also house a large range & variety of birds including ostrich, black Swans, bucks, geese, chickens, guinea fowl and most beautiful of all, their peahen and peacock.
